Brock and McMaster Universities are renewing an agreement to work together to train more doctors in Niagara.

The renewed five year agreement will see the two universities share space and learning resources at the Brock campus.

In a release, Brock University President Gervan Fearon says, "Brock University holds as a key priority the contributions it makes to enriching and strengthening communities across the Niagara region. It’s difficult to imagine a more important way of impacting peoples' lives than by helping improve their health care, including the training of health professionals right here in Niagara. Brock is pleased that our partnership with McMaster University facilitates us in making this contribution, as well as establishing a new scope for building on our shared successes."

Since the program began, more than 200 medical students, 80 family medicine residents, 7 emergency medicine residents, and 2 general surgery residents have graduated.

So far more than 60 medical professionals from the program decided to remain in Niagara.
