Brock has announced its new Sexual Violence Response and Education Coordinator.
Allison Cadwallader joined the university back on September 6th.
Cadwallader comes to Brock with experience in the area of sexual violence prevention and support to survivors of sexual violence through her various roles at the University of Windsor and the Sarnia Sexual Assault Survivors’ Centre.
Cadwallader will provide support to Brock community members who are affected by sexual violence and she will offer education and training on sexual violence prevention and response to members of the Brock University community.
Looks like the push for action at Brock is paying off.
Back in March a protest was held calling on Brock faculty to take action on sexual harassment cases.
Shortly after, funding was made available to hire a Sexual Violence Response Coordinator at Brock.
It marks the first time ever a person will be able to handle complaints as they arise and educate students.
Outrage erupted early this year when a former student came forward with concerns over how her sexual assault allegation was handled.
The student telling CKTB she was told repeatedly by the school not to discuss the three month investigation or the findings so they wouldn't be "improperly publicized"
The incident happened in Fall 2014, she alleges a history professor tried to force himself on her in his office after giving her alcohol.
