The Ontario Government is allocating a $960,000 grant to Brock University to help create the world's first augmented reality, virtual reality, and sensory reality consumer lab.
The money matches a recent federal grant and when combined with support from the grape and wine industry, allows Brock's Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute to establish a landmark facility known as R3CL.
Researchers will be using several techniques to study how different sights, smells, and sounds affect how people buy and drink wine. Some of that work will include using virtual technology.
Brock's lab is just one of 53 projects receiving help through the Ontario Research Fund investing almost $136 million province-wide.
