Some Brock University students are connecting with residents of a long-term care facility.
Students in the Leisure and Aging course have been virtually interviewing residents of Radiant Care Tabor Manor in St. Catharines.
During the conversations they learned about the residents' favourite pastimes, hobbies, and passions.
With that information in hand, the students set to work creating individualized sensory boxes to help keep the residents entertained and stimulated during isolation.
For one resident, Mini Terhorst, students put together a package including kinetic sand to remind her of her love for travelling and a customized puzzle based on her love for cardinals.
In all, 17 boxes were put together, disinfected, quarantined, and then later delivered to the residents.
