A free public talk at Brock University will be focusing on the far reaching impacts of dementia.
Via a release, Associate Professor of Nursing Lynn McCleary says we shouldn't assume dementia is a normal part of the aging process. "Dementia is an umbrella term for a number of disorders of the brain, where functioning decreases over time and it is important to break down the stigmas associated with them."
As Niagara's population continues to age, experts believe the number of people living with the disorder will continue to grow.
A special panel will discuss the symptoms of dementia, the impacts it can have on the community, and the role music can play.
The public is welcome to attend the "“Demystifying Dementia" talk held tomorrow night from 6:45 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the David S. Howes Theatre.
