Just across the border from Niagara, 12 people in the Buffalo area are in quarantine over fears of the coronavirus.
The Erie County Department of Health confirmed today that the individuals are being tested after arriving home from a 'high-risk region' in Northern Italy where there is widespread community transmission of COVID-19.
The Buffalo News is reporting that six out of the 12 people are showing symptoms and they are in self-isolation.
Testing samples are being delivered to the NYSDOH Wadsworth Public Health Laboratory in Albany today.
There are 108 cases of novel coronavirus in the US, and the number of cases rose to 29 today in Canada.
