Western New York is not immune to the ongoing violence that we are seeing across the U.S. as people take to the streets to protest against racism and police brutality.
Two police officers, one a state trooper, were struck by a vehicle last night during a protest in front of the Buffalo police department's station on Bailey Avenue.
Video from the scene shows the vehicle accelerating through an intersection shortly after officers apparently tackled a protester on the street and handcuffed him.
Officers are seen scattering to avoid the SUV as it drives off .
The city's Mayor Byron Brown says two people were shot a short distance away and he is waiting to learn if the pair were in the vehicle that plowed into police.
Both officers were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
