The Hamilton Bulldogs walking away disappointed this weekend, after learning, the city is out of the running to host the 2018 centennial Memorial Cup.
Canadian Hockey League President David Branch says the Bulldog's bid had all the required elements but failed because of the team's home at FirstOntario Centre.
Branch noting the 30 year old facility lacks a dehumidification system, its short on luxury boxes and doesn't have a hi-def scoreboard which all Memorial Cup hosts have to have.
City council is expected to get a report next month on how much it will cost to update the arena...with estimates right now in theĀ $100 to $300 million range, depending on whether council opts for a full or partial renovation.
