School buses have been cancelled again today for the District School Board of Niagara and Niagara Catholic District School Board.
School remains open, and exams will be rescheduled. The DSBN kindergarten open houses will still go ahead as scheduled.
Officials with Niagara Student Transportation Service say icy road conditions and the extreme cold were the main factors for today's decision.
On average, NSTS has less than two transportation cancellations per school year.
Officials say if certain areas of Niagara are worse than others, they will do a partial cancellation but not during exam season or in the event of extreme cold.
They have never cancelled three days in a row, but last time there was a cancellation of two consecutive days was January 2014. On the first day there was a system wide shutdown. The next day it was only a partial shutdown along the Lake Erie Shore.
Officials tell us the conditions were similar to what we are dealing with now - snow squalls and extreme cold.
Franco Bus has also cancelled all Niagara routes.
