It was a busy end to 2017 as Welland firefighters dealt with a pair of stove fires.
Hoses and equipment froze in -20 degree temperatures as crews battled a blaze on Saturday.
Deputy Fire Chief Adam Eckhart tells the Welland Tribune a neighbour was the one to spot the early morning fire in a wood stove at the back of a detached two car garage on St George Street.
No one was hurt, but the damage rings in around $50,000.
Meanwhile on New Years Eve Welland firefighters were called out again for a stove fire in the area of 5th and 6th Streets - Eckhart says no one was injured as crews made quick work of the situation.
