Drivers from CAA Niagara and more than a dozen regional towing companies will congregate at the club's headquarters Tuesday morning to share stories of the dangers they encounter when assisting motorists stranded on our highways.
They're encouraging drivers to slow down and move over as part of Tow Safety Week.
CAA Niagara is adding bright yellow "Slow Down Move Over" flags to all 40 trucks and is taking an industry lead by distributing these flags to other towing companies across the region.
The move over law is now 15 years old and it seems drivers still aren't getting the message.
In 2016, the OPP laid 2,443 move over charges, surpassing 2015 figures.
The law was established in 2003 and requires drivers to slow down and proceed with caution when approaching an emergency vehicle parked on the side of the highway with its lights on.
