Twenty local celebrities will put their driving skills to the test this morning in CAA Niagara's first Distracted Driving Derby.
Drivers will pilot pedal cars through an obstacle course while attempting to text and drive, apply make up and peel a banana.
CAA President Peter Van Hezewyk says its a fun event designed to draw attention to a serious issue.
The event runs from 10 am to noon in the north parking lot of the Pen Centre.
Inside the mall shoppers will also be given a chance to experience the effects of distracted driving by slipping behind the wheel of a high tech driving simulator.
