A Cambridge city councillor, up for re-election, is proposing a new model of local government.
Fed up with regional government, Councillor Nicholas Ermeta is suggesting they do away with the Region of Waterloo and replace it with a management board.
Ermeta says he would like to seeĀ a local board that coordinates services for the region's municipalities but in the end it would be up to each city to decide the level of service they want.
He adds the board's mandate would be to find cost efficiencies by going out and providing some of the services at the best possible price.
