New data from Canada Border Services says border guards have only fired their guns 18 times, since they were first equipped with guns in 2007.
The agency says 11 of the shots were accidental discharges, another six to euthanize a wounded animals and in one case to fend off an attacking dog.
All tallied. front line officers have drawn a firearm 299 times in the last decade.
