Just 11 days before Christmas, Canada Post says it's starting to catch up on parcel deliveries that have been delayed by rotating strikes over the past two months.
But it says it can't restore its delivery guarantees because backlogs remain sporadic across the country.
The Crown corporation says the improvement is largely because volumes of international parcels are significantly less than expected.
The corporation requested in mid-November that international partners stop sending packages to Canada while work stoppages were held in cities across the country.
The international carriers resumed shipments November 27th after the federal government passed back-to-work legislation forcing an end to the rotating walkouts, but Canada Post says lower volumes are allowing postal workers to make some progress in reducing backlogs of packages.
The agency says letter mail deliveries are ``current,'' meaning that Christmas cards and other mail is expected to be delivered under normal timeframes
