The national women's swim team is The Canadian Press team of the year for 2016.
Canada won six Olympic medals in women's swimming in Rio and collected another seven at the world short-course championship in Windsor, Ont., this year.
The women's swim team received 15 votes ahead of the Toronto Raptors at 11 votes and the Toronto Blue Jays with nine.
It's only the third time in half a century that women have earned the team of the year award.
The swimmers were led by 16-year-old Penny Oleksiak, whose four medals in Rio included a freestyle gold.
She was named The Canadian Press female athlete of the year on Tuesday.
