Officials from Canada's Wonderland are warning the public about a scam offering free tickets to the park.
A Facebook link has been circulating, supposedly offering five free tickets per family.
The link sends people to a web page to complete an online survey and then asks participants to share the link once they have finished.
Park officials say this is fraudulent and neither the offer nor the website are sponsored by Canada's Wonderland.
Canada's Wonderland could not accommodate an interview, but provided CKTB the following statement:
We are aware of a fraudulent ticket scheme circulating on Facebook that directs people to the www.wonderland-ca.win URL. A similar scheme had earlier been circulating on WhatsApp. These ticket offers and websites are not authorized by Canada’s Wonderland. We caution people to be wary of discounted ticket deals from individuals, third party websites, apps or social media. We advise people to purchase tickets at our official website www.canadaswonderland.com, at the park’s front gate or with authorized ticket dealers. Canada’s Wonderland takes ticket fraud very seriously. If anyone has any concerns about the validity of their ticket or a dealer, please call Guest Services at 905-832-8131.
(Authorized ticket dealers include Costco, Perkopolis and Venngo)
Additionally, we are regularly in contact with York Region Police about these scams and they are aware of this particular website. We also report the fraudulent websites and posts to Google and the respective social platforms like Facebook.
