A Canadian astronaut is headed to the International Space Station while the memory of an emergency landing remains fresh in the minds of many people.
On October 11th, a sensor failure forced the Soyuz capsule with American Nick Hague and Russian Alexey Ovchinin to make an emergency landing.
No injuries were reported after the incident.
This morning 48 year old Canadian doctor and astronaut David Saint-Jacque climbed aboard a Soyuz and blasted off from Kazakhstan on his journey to the ISS alongside Anne McClain of NASA and Oleg Kononenko of the Russian space agency.
According to NASA officials the trio made it safely into orbit and the solar arrays have successfully deployed on their Soyuz spacecraft.
It will take at least another six hours before they arrive at the Space Station.
