Canadian musicians upset over new fees that go into effect in December that will make it tough for small bands to play gigs south of the border.
Starting December 20th, performance permit fees for out of country musicians booked to play in the U-S will climb by 42 percent to about $615 per band member.
The fee hike is being imposed by the U-S Citizenship and Immigration Service.
Bands who are just starting out argue that paying almost $2,500 out of pocket for an average four member band is not doable.
A guitarist for Hamilton based band Pet Sun tells the CBC, "It's like I can see it through the fence, but I can't touch it"
