By the time you finish lunch today the country's top paid CEO's will have earned what an average worker makes in a year.
In a new report by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives a review of corporate filings of publicly traded companies shows the top executives earned an average of 10 million dollars in 2017, the most recent year available.
That's about 197 times more money than the average Canadian worker.
The centre's senior economist says CEO pay has risen faster than average wages.
A seperate report looked at women executives and found they earned about 68 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts.
In late November, Statistics Canada calculated that across the country's labour force, women earned 87 cents for every dollar earned by men in 2017.
