Public health officials believe six Canadians have fallen ill in connection with a strain of E. coli linked to romaine lettuce in the U.S.
One Canadian required hospitalization.
The Canadian illnesses happened between March and mid-April including one person in both British Columbia and Alberta, and a pair of people in Saskatchewan as well as in Ontario.
Officials say two people travelled to the U.S. before getting sick, three became infected in Canada, and the investigation is still ongoing into the sixth case.
Stateside, at least 149 people in 29 states report becoming sick after eating romaine lettuce.
