Investing in cannabis businesses south of the border could keep one Canadian from travelling to the US permanently.
Vancouver businessman Sam Znaimer is applying for a special waiver after he was hit with a lifetime ban. Znaimer says he was stopped at the border, spent 4 - 4 1/2 hours in secondary inspection, and was then told he was permanently banned from entering the US.
An immigration lawyer is now cautioning Canadians to steer clear of investing in marijuana if they plan to travel to the United States at any point in the future. Even though it is legal in some states, according to US federal laws it is still illegal to sell, possess, produce, or distribute pot.
