A St. Catharines woman who faked having cancer and bilked a woman out of nearly $200,000 will not be spending any time behind bars.
43 year old Michelle Meade was charged in 2011 after conning a Walsingham woman into giving her cash to pay for cancer treatments.
It was the second time Meade has been charged, in 1998, a Kitchener man gave her $35,000 after she told him she had breast cancer.
Yesterday, a Norfolk County judge sentenced Meade to six months house arrest and a year and a half of community service.
She must also pay the woman $75,000 in restitution.
