The case of a St. Catharines vet charged with sixteen counts of animal cruelty is back in court today.
Doctor Mahavir Rekhi faces eight counts of causing unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal and eight counts of failing to provide suitable and adequate care for an animal.
If convicted of the charges, Rekhi faces up to five years in jail, a lifetime ban on owning or caring for an animal, and a fine of up to $10,000
The case was last in front of the court in August, when Rekhi's legal representation asked for more time to comb through the case, calling it 'complex.'
CKTB's Shelby Knox will be at the courthouse later this morning with all the latest.
