It is the last day of the 2016 racing season in Fort Erie and after the last horse crosses the finish line, fans of the late Daryl Wells Junior, the long time announcer at the track will gather for a celebration of his life.
Wells, passed away last Thursday at the age of 56.
He was just 17 years old when he called his first race, following in the footsteps of his father, Daryl Wells Senior, who died in 2003 after a long career calling races at Woodbine, Greenwood and Fort Erie.
The celebration of life will be held at the Plaice Bar and Grill in Fort Erie starting at 6 o'clock this evening.
