St. Catharines is preparing to welcome guests from across Turtle Island this weekend for Celebration of Nations, a gathering of Indigenous arts, culture and tradition in downtown St. Catharines from Sept. 8 to 10 at the FIrst Ontario Performing Arts Centre.
The three-day festival begins tomorrow at 5 pm with the Procession of Nations.
Special guests include the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
Buffy Sainte-Marie headlines the event.
The festival also includes the Niagara premiere of the Sundance award-winning RUMBLE: The Indians Who Rocked the World, Moose River Crossing, along with free screenings of imagineNATIVE Shorts and Gord Downie’s The Secret Path.
Coinciding with the Celebration of Nations, the Brock Badgers lacrosse teams will host the Six Nations All Stars in a pair of exhibition games tomorrow.
The women play at 10 am and the men at noon.
