The Habitat build in Welland has received some celebrity sweat equity.
TV personality Scott McGillivray helped build homes yesterday, alongside Women Build volunteers, Indigenous students and future Habitat homeowners.
The Habitat for Humanity Canada ambassador was at the Afton Ave. multi-home project with six lucky volunteers who won a contest to build alongside the HGTV star.
“It’s good to be part of something where I can give back. The way Habitat for Humanity gives that hand up instead of a hand out, helping people help themselves – is something that has really resonated with me over the years,” said Scott McGillivray. “I’m always thrilled to build with Habitat and see so many volunteers and future Habitat homeowners out dedicating their time and energy to building homes and helping others.”
A volunteer team from 610 CKTB, 105.7 EZ Rock, and 97.7 HTZ FM spent the day laying flooring on Monday at the homes, and will be back October 15th to paint.
5 families will be moving into the homes in December, including 16 children.
