Niagara voters may see some big changes on the ballot during the next municipal election.
In a move by the province that blindsided Niagara Regional Councillors, the province introduced legislation yesterday that will see the head of every regional council in Ontario elected by voters.
Currently the chairs are selected by members of regional council.
Tonight, another big change may also move forward.
Niagara regional council will vote on a move that would see six St. Catharines city councillors serve on both municipal and regional council.
If the region says yes tonight, the dual duty model still needs the approval of the majority of Niagara's 12 municipal council's.
Tune into 610 CKTB News, for the Roundtable at 8:30 this morning, we'll be joined by Regional Chair Alan Caslin.
