A St. Catharines homeowner will be charged with fire code violations following a blaze at a residence on Louth Street.
Fire crews were called to a home at 67 Louth Street Monday around 3 p.m. and found the deck and exterior walls behind the two unit home engulfed in flames.
Fire Chief Dave Wood says careless use of smoking materials started the fire.
Further investigation revealed the home was not equiped with working smoke or carbon monoxide detectors.
No one was hurt in the fire and damaged is pegged at $100, 000.
