A strike by LCBO workers has been averted, at least for now.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union says a tentative contract agreement was reached shortly after the midnight strike deadline passed.
Union president Warren "Smokey'' Thomas says details of the accord won't be released before union members have a chance to look it over.
The deal was reached with the help of a mediator who had imposed a media blackout on the contract talks.
The LCBO had extended store hours for its outlets the past couple of days to allow customers more time to stock up in case there was a strike.
The eight-thousand unionized LCBO workers have been without a contract since March 31st.
