Investigators with the Welland and District Humane Society are looking for the owner of three large dogs after a Chihuahua was killed near the Off Leash Park on Elm Street in Port Colborne.
Erin Clarke says she was walking her two Chihuahuas on their leashes along a nearby trail last Wednesday morning around 9:30 a.m. when they were surrounded by three off-leash dogs.
The trio began to attack, delivering fatal injuries to one Chihuahua, Thor.
Clarke says the owner of the three dogs tried to intervene, but it was too late. He then approached her in the parking lot as she was holding Thor.
"And he said where are you taking him, and I said the vet on Elm Street. And he said 'I'm going there right now. I'm going there right now.' And he never came."
The owner is described as a 5'6" white man between 35 - 40. He was clean shaven, wore blue jeans and a blue wind breaker, and may be walking with a limp.
He drove a white Buick SUV.
The dogs are all large breeds: one was brindle coloured, the second was white with black ears and black spots, and the third was all black.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Welland and District Humane Society.
