It will be an emotional day as the families of victims killed by a nurse in southwestern Ontario speak during a public inquiry.
Elizabeth Wettlaufer was sentenced to life in prison with no parole eligibility for 25 years after confessing to killing eight patients at long term care homes and private facilities in the Woodstock and London area, attempting to kill another four, and two counts of aggravated assault.
The public inquiry taking place in St. Thomas has heard her crimes spanned a decade starting in 1995. She told investigators she used insulin overdoses to commit the murders.
Today one woman who Wettlaufer attempted to kill will speak for the first time.
Today's closing submissions are expected to highlight the impact the crimes had on the families, and the shortcomings that allowed the murders to happen.
