A new code of conduct will be up for discussion at St. Catharines city council Monday - but there's a paragraph not sitting well with at least one member.
Councillor Joe Kushner calls it a "snitch clause."
It would require councillors to inform the city clerk of any member of council, close family member, associate or staff who may not be in compliance.
Kushner tells CKTB requiring someone to do that would be "problematic."
He calls it offensive and says he will be making a recommendation to have the paragraph removed.
However, Mayor Walter Sendzik calls Kushner's take on the clause "unfortunate."
He says a clause like this is needed more than ever in the age of "Me Too" and other issues like racism and bullying in the workplace.
Sendzik says as mayor he will signoff on the clause regardless of how council feels about it.
