Fired F-B-I director James Comey is set to recount talks with President Donald Trump that he says made him deeply uneasy and concerned about the blurring of boundaries between the White House and the bureau.
Comey's account of demands for loyalty from Trump, and of requests to end an investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn are likely to sharpen allegations that Trump improperly sought to influence an F-B-I probe.
He will testify under oath that Trump repeatedly pressed him for his loyalty and directly pushed him to ``lift the cloud'' of investigation by declaring publicly that the president was not the target of the probe into his campaign's Russia ties.
Comey's firing fuelled claims that Trump's ultimate aim was to quash the investigation and obstruct justice, potentially a federal crime or an impeachable offence.
