Pelham residents can take comfort.
The oldest sugar maple in the country recevied only minor damage from a lightning strike Tuesday afternoon.
The Comfort Maple stands more than 24 metres and is said to be between 400 to 500 years old.
A fire official says a small fire at the base of the tree was put out in minutes.
