The community has rallied around a Grimsby family who suffered a tragic loss this summer.
Over $22,000 has been raised for the family of 46 year old David Martens who died in Lake Ontario two weeks ago.
A gofundme page was launched, shortly after Martens' body was found in the water in Lincoln, with an initial goal of $10,000.
As of today, $22,700 has been raised.
The account will help Martens' three children with their education costs, and other needs.
Martens, an avid swimmer and athlete, is believed to have rented a kayak at the Beacon Harbour Marina in Lincoln and wasn't seen again.
His body was found days later in Lake Ontario near Sandy Cove Drive, not far from the Beacon.
The gofundme account is still active if you would like to donate.
