More than $5,000 in donations and three cargo vans full of clothing are going to migrant workers who lost everything during a horrible fire in St. Catharines.
The blaze at Pioneer Flower Farms began on Friday, with fire crews from across Niagara racing to the scene to help out.
Several buildings, including the workers' living quarters and some greenhouses were destroyed.
St. Catharines' Deputy Fire Chief Dave Upper says miraculously no one was hurt.
"I know they have 45 migrant workers in total, but they're not housed all on site. But there was a significant number, and quite a bit of housing, and those migrant workers were all able to get out uninjured."
The investigation into what caused the blaze continues, but Upper tells us a recent delivery of 500,000 flower crates helped to fuel the blaze.
Crews remained on scene yesterday afternoon, putting out hot spots.
Cash donations are being collected through a GoFundMe account.
Physical donations are being dropped off at Hernder Estates Winery on 8th Avenue, but officials say they are in need of cash donations and gift cards as well.
