The Niagara Falls skyline could be going through a bit of transformation as a company applies for three tower hotels.
Officials with Canadian Niagara Hotels owned by the DiCienzo family hope to develop a 56 storey building as well as two 35 storey hotels on Robinson Street.
Niagara Falls Councillor and Executive Director of Niagara Falls Tourism Wayne Thompson says the company will need to get a bylaw exemption first.
"[The bylaw] says 30 storeys, if you want to go above that - which the council is very happy to do in the past - [the developers] have to contribute a substantial amount of money above the development charges and anything else to the betterment of the city. I'm not talking about $10,000 - I think the Hilton gave $1 million to the city to go to that additional height."
All told, the new hotels would offer more the 1800 rooms.
Canadian Niagara Hotels will appear at council this week to ask for the exemption.
