A new company in Welland is planning to hire at least 100 workers to transform shipping containers into pre-fabricated homes.
CNTNR Inc. has been operating out of Edmonton for the last three years, transforming sea-cans into homes.
This summer the company is opening a 125,000 square foot facility in Welland at the former Senvion blade manufacturing plant.
The Welland location will start things off by building 150 units for an affordable housing project in Indianapolis.
Company officials say they hope to hire around 600 workers over the next few years.
