Toronto area police once again asking residents not to call 911 to complain about an Amber Alert.
Police in Markham says they were inundated with calls to the emergency line yesterday after an Amber Alert was issued for a five year old girl allegedly abducted by her father.
As a result of the alert police received a tip from a concerned citizen and both the father and daughter were located safe and sound.
But police say even though the alert was cancelled around 6 last night, an hour after it was issued, residents were calling to complain they were still receiving advisories on their cellphones or televisions hours later.
