There are conflicting reports about a surprise inspection at Marineland.
While the themepark says they passed the inspection, the OSPCA tells a different story.
In a release sent to CKTB the OSPCA says:
"Contrary to what was stated by Marineland, the Ontario SPCA zoo inspectors found 11 items requiring action during our recent unannounced zoo inspection. Recommendations were made to address deficiency/concerns and administrative requirements. The items are being addressed and we have confirmed that the animals are under veterinary care as requested."
Meanwhile, the Niagara Falls theme park says investigators found no signs of animal abuse or neglect during a surprise visit on Wednesday.
In a release, Marineland officials say the inspection confirms the park’s “total innocence to all allegations made by discredited activists.”
Last week, crown prosecutors dropped eight animal abuse related charges laid against the park by the OSPCA for lack of evidence.
Another three charges were dismissed because the Crown said it was not in the public's interest to pursue them.
