Construction on the Peace Bridge begins later this month, and the agency that operates the bridge is calling on both US and Canadian customs to keep the span fully staffed to avoid long lines of traffic.
One lane of the bridge will close, starting November 15th until May 15th for a $100 million retrofit.
That means there will only be one lane available in each direction during construction.
Peace Bridge Authority Chairman Sam Hoyt says inorder to keep the flow of traffic moving and to avoid backups, customs must maintain adequate staffing levels.
Officials have taken Canada Customs to task blaming a staffing shortage for a series of backups throughout the busy summer months.
