It appears a controversial figure on the board of directors for the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority is calling it quits.
Hamilton member James Kaspersetz said his goodbye to the board at yesterday's meeting.
" I just want to thank everyone, this is probably going to be my last requested attendance at serving on this board, it's been a pleasure, I've learned a lot and everyone keep your heads down"
Kaspersetz was censured by the board of directors this month following a racist facebook post.
On New Year's Day he shared a controversial post that stated: “77 years after Pearl Harbour, it still hurts but 17 years after 9/11 we are moving them here and adapting their laws in places?”
Kaspersetz indicated it was made in error and he had trouble removing it, adding he condemns all posts that are identified as racist.
He had originally applied to return as Hamilton's citizen representative on the board for the new term, but following public backlash over the social media post he indicated he would no longer seek another term.
