A controversial Niagara man has died.
Known for his protests at government buildings and tumultuous relationships with local politicians, Fred Bracken was a familiar face to many politically minded people in Niagara.
During one of his protests at Brock University, Bracken assaulted a bystander who tried to take his sign away, resulting in a 90 day stint behind bars for the former Fort Erie resident.
But late last week, a newspaper in Cambodia reported the man was found dead in a hotel room of an apparent overdose.
The St. Catharines Standard says hotel cleaning staff found Bracken's body.
We do not know why he was in Cambodia, or how long he had been there prior to his death.
