Police say co-ordinated raids in six Ontario cities, including St. Catharines, have ripped a large hole in the workings of a sophisticated and growing Toronto-based street gang.
Toronto police Chief Mark Saunders says 120 people were arrested during the raids yesterday morning that targeted the Driftwood Crips street gang and its associates
He described the gang members as ``thugs'' trying to intimidate and control their neighbourhoods.
Saunders says more than 660 charges were laid, including attempted murder, trafficking firearms, kidnapping conspiracies, robbery and drug trafficking.
