Provincial police are warning the public to use extreme caution on or around any surfaces that appear to be frozen after a couple and their dog fell through ice on a river in Haldimand County.
The two were walking their dog Thursday evening when the canine ventured onto the frozen river and fell through the ice.
When the couple tried to save the pooch, they too fell through the ice.
People on shore heard their screams for help and called 911.
Haldimand County Fire Services officials were able to rescue the trio, who were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
