A couple high profile cases in Niagara are in court this week.
Yesterday the man facing two attempted murder charges after an incident in Smithville appeared in a St. Catharines courtroom via video.
Alexander Bates was shot by police as officers responded to calls about two people tied up in a basement just days before Christmas.
According to the Niagara Falls review, Bates' lawyer did not appear in court and the case was adjourned until March 14.
Meanwhile 54 year old Mark Skinner is expected in court today, facing charges including aggravated assault and two counts of disarming a police officer.
His charges stem from a stabbing in Niagara Falls on Sunday.
The paper reports the man, who was injured during his arrest, will be released from hospital this afternoon.
