The owner of the GM property in St. Catharines has finally paid its taxes.
The City of St. Catharines received a cheque from Bayshore Groups at the end of the day Thursday , just four days before the matter landed in court.
The city was set to argue that it be allowed to take over the Ontario Street property and sell it in a tax sale.
But local councillor Matt Siscoe says that won't be happening.
He tells CKTB's Matt Holmes the payment takes away the "hammer" the city had to try and get movement on the project.
Bayshore Groups purchased the property from General Motors in June 2014 for $12.5 million.
