About a month after it was supposed to launch, the COVID alert app is now LIVE.
The downloadable app notifies the user if and when they have been in close contact with another user of the app who has tested positive.
The app uses bluetooth technology to bounce off other phones who are also using the app and have their bluetooth activated.
If someone does get a positive covid-19 test - they will have to enter a specific code in order to send out a notification to other app users.
Officials have stressed that no personal data will be collected.
