The QEW in Niagara will be closed heading through Beamsville Saturday morning to clean up fuel that spilled in a Beamsville crash on the South Service Road.
The crash happened this morning on the South Service Road sending a fuel tanker onto its side near Tufford Rd. The roadway remains closed as officials offload the fuel, and work to get the tanker upright.
The driver of the tanker has been taken to hospital with injuries.
OPP are looking for the driver of a black Mercedes which was seen driving aggressively in the area. Another vehicle was involved in the crash, a white SUV, however the driver wasn't hurt.
Crews are working to reopen the QEW Fort Erie Bound at Ontario Street now, which has been closed since this morning.
A full closure of the QEW will be needed tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 13th, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. for crews to clean up the highway and area ditches since fuel leaked from the tanker. The closure will take place between Ontario St. and Victoria Ave.
OPP say they will reopen the QEW shortly to allow Friday commuters to get home, and for tonight's weather to pass, before the full QEW closure tomorrow morning.
